Bathroom Renovation Services Across Greater Manchester
Your bathroom should be a space you enjoy using, not somewhere you tolerate. Whether it's a cramped layout, dated tiles, or a suite that's seen better days, a bathroom renovation can completely change how your home feels.
We've renovated hundreds of bathrooms across Greater Manchester. Victorian terraces in Chorlton with awkward plumbing. 1930s semis in Stockport where the bathroom was added in a rear extension. Modern apartments in the city centre. Each project is different, and we design solutions that work for your specific space and requirements.
Unlike bathroom showrooms that just sell you a suite and leave you to find fitters, we handle everything. Design, supply, plumbing, electrics, tiling, flooring, decoration. One quote, one team, one point of contact throughout.
Types of Bathroom We Install
Family Bathrooms
The main bathroom used by everyone needs to work hard. Bath for the kids, shower for quick mornings, storage for all the bottles and toiletries. We design family bathrooms that balance practicality with style. Durable finishes that cope with daily use. Easy-clean surfaces. Proper ventilation to prevent damp.
En-Suite Bathrooms
En-suites are usually smaller, so clever design matters. We maximise space with wall-hung sanitaryware, sliding shower doors, and compact fittings. A well-designed en-suite adds real value to a bedroom, especially in a loft conversion or master suite. Shower only or with a small bath depending on your space and preference.
Wet Rooms
Wet rooms have no shower tray or enclosure. The entire floor is waterproofed and drains through a floor gully. They look sleek, feel spacious, and are easier to clean. Good for accessibility too since there's no step into the shower. Proper tanking is essential to prevent leaks, so installation must be done right.
Cloakrooms and Downstairs WCs
Small spaces that guests see, so they need to look good. Usually just a WC and small basin, sometimes in spaces barely bigger than a cupboard. We fit compact sanitaryware designed for tight spots. Wall-hung basins and toilets free up floor space. Good lighting and mirrors make small rooms feel bigger.
Shower Rooms
When you don't need a bath, a dedicated shower room makes sense. Walk-in showers, large shower heads, body jets if you want them. More space for a bigger shower enclosure than you'd get in a bathroom with a bath as well. Popular for loft conversions and en-suites.
Accessible Bathrooms
Bathrooms designed for mobility needs, elderly users, or wheelchair access. Level access showers, grab rails, raised toilets, accessible basins. We work with occupational therapists when needed and understand Disabled Facilities Grant requirements if you're applying for council funding.
All Trades Included
Our quotes cover everything: plumbing, electrics, tiling, flooring, plastering, and decoration. You don't need to find separate tradespeople or coordinate between them. We manage the whole project from start to finish.
What's Included in a Bathroom Renovation?
Sanitaryware
Toilets, basins, baths, and bidets. We supply quality sanitaryware from brands like Ideal Standard, Roca, Duravit, and Villeroy and Boch. Close-coupled toilets or wall-hung for a cleaner look. Pedestal basins, wall-mounted, or vanity units with storage. Freestanding baths, built-in baths, or shower baths. We help you choose what works for your space and budget.
Showers
Electric showers work independently of your hot water system. Mixer showers blend hot and cold from your existing supply and give better flow. Thermostatic valves maintain constant temperature even when someone flushes a toilet elsewhere. Digital showers let you set precise temperatures. We advise on what suits your water pressure and heating system.
Shower Enclosures
Framed, frameless, or semi-frameless. Sliding doors, hinged doors, or walk-in panels. Quadrant enclosures fit corners neatly. Square or rectangular for larger spaces. We measure carefully and fit precisely so doors seal properly and there are no leaks.
Baths
Steel baths retain heat well and feel solid. Acrylic baths are lighter, cheaper, and warm to touch. Freestanding baths make a statement if you have space. Shower baths with screens work well in family bathrooms where you need both. Japanese-style deep soaking tubs if you like a proper soak.
Taps and Mixers
Separate hot and cold taps look traditional but aren't as practical as mixers. Basin mixers, bath fillers, deck-mounted or wall-mounted. Chrome is standard but brushed brass, matt black, and brushed nickel are popular now. Quality taps last longer and feel better to use every day.
Tiles
Ceramic or porcelain for walls. Porcelain for floors since it's harder wearing. Natural stone if your budget stretches. Large format tiles with fewer grout lines look cleaner and are easier to maintain. Smaller mosaic tiles for feature areas. We handle all tiling including waterproof tanking behind showers.
Flooring
Bathroom floors get wet, so the surface needs to handle it. Porcelain tiles are the gold standard. Luxury vinyl tiles look like wood or stone but are waterproof and warmer underfoot. Sheet vinyl works for budget-friendly options. We prepare the subfloor properly so tiles don't crack and vinyl doesn't lift.
Underfloor Heating
Electric underfloor heating under tiles makes bathrooms comfortable year-round. Especially nice for early morning starts in winter. Not as expensive as you might think when installed during a renovation. We install Warmup and similar quality systems with proper thermostatic controls.
Electrics
Bathroom electrics must comply with Part P Building Regulations. Shaver sockets, heated towel rail connections, extractor fans, and lighting all need proper installation in bathroom zones. We install IP-rated fittings where required and provide electrical certificates for all work.
Ventilation
Good ventilation prevents damp and mould. Building Regulations require mechanical extraction if there's no openable window. We install extractor fans ducted to outside, with humidistat controls that run automatically when moisture levels rise. Proper ventilation protects your new bathroom and keeps it looking fresh.
The Bathroom Renovation Process
Design Consultation
We visit your home to measure the bathroom, discuss what you want to achieve, look at your hot water and heating setup, and talk through options. You'll get ideas and advice tailored to your space.
Design and Quote
We produce a design showing layout, sanitaryware, tiles, and finishes. You get a detailed quote covering everything including all installation work. No hidden extras.
Strip Out
Old bathroom removed carefully. We check for any hidden issues like damaged joists, leaks, or inadequate ventilation. Better to find problems now than after tiles are on.
First Fix Plumbing and Electrics
Pipework repositioned if needed for new layout. Waste pipes rerouted. Electrical cables run for lights, fan, heated towel rail, and any other fittings.
Structural and Prep Work
Any boxing, stud walls, or structural adjustments. Floor levelled if required. Walls prepared for tiling. Waterproof tanking applied to shower areas.
Tiling
Floor tiles laid first, then walls. Proper adhesive and grout for wet areas. Silicone sealing at all joints and corners. We take care with cuts and finishing for a professional result.
Second Fix and Fitting
Sanitaryware fitted and connected. Shower installed and tested. Accessories mounted. Towel rail connected. Everything checked for leaks and proper operation.
Finishing and Handover
Final silicone sealing. Touch-up painting. Deep clean. We walk you through everything, hand over warranties and certificates, and make sure you're completely happy.
Bathroom Electrics and Building Regulations
Bathrooms are high-risk areas for electrical work because of the combination of water and electricity. Building Regulations Part P sets strict requirements.
The bathroom is divided into zones:
- Zone 0: Inside the bath or shower. Only SELV (12V max) fittings allowed
- Zone 1: Above the bath or shower up to 2.25m. IPX4 rated fittings minimum
- Zone 2: Area 0.6m around bath or shower. IPX4 rated fittings
- Outside zones: Normal fittings allowed but must still be suitable for bathrooms
All bathroom electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician and certified. Our electricians are Part P registered and provide certificates for all installations. Shaver sockets must comply with BS EN 61558-2-5. Extractor fans need proper isolation switches.
Hot Water and Heating Considerations
Your existing hot water system affects what shower options work best.
Combi Boilers
Most common in UK homes now. Heat water on demand with no tank. Water pressure depends on your mains pressure. Thermostatic mixer showers work well. Power showers won't work without a pump. Multiple showers running simultaneously may struggle.
System or Conventional Boilers
Hot water stored in a cylinder, often in the airing cupboard. Can provide good flow rates for larger showers. Unvented cylinders give mains pressure. Vented systems with tanks in the loft give lower pressure unless pumped.
Electric Showers
Heat water independently of your boiler. Work with any system and provide hot water even if your boiler breaks. Flow rate limited by the power rating. 9.5kW or higher recommended for decent flow.
We assess your heating system during our survey and recommend shower options that will work well in your home.

Bathroom Renovation Questions
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
+A standard bathroom renovation takes 7-10 working days. Smaller en-suites might be 5-7 days. Larger or more complex bathrooms with structural changes take 2-3 weeks. We give you a specific timescale when we quote and stick to it.
Can I use the toilet during the renovation?
+We try to maintain use of the toilet for as long as possible, but there will be times when it's disconnected. Usually just a few hours at a time. If you only have one bathroom, we'll discuss arrangements. Some customers use a neighbour's or gym during brief disconnections.
Do I need Building Regulations approval?
+A like-for-like bathroom replacement doesn't need Building Regulations approval. But all electrical work must comply with Part P and be certified by a qualified electrician. If you're adding a new bathroom in a location that didn't have one before, Building Regs may apply. We advise on requirements during our consultation.
What's the difference between a wet room and a walk-in shower?
+A walk-in shower has a tray (even if low profile) and usually a glass panel. A wet room has no tray at all. The entire floor is waterproofed with a slight fall towards a floor drain. Wet rooms need proper tanking to prevent water leaking through the floor. Both look great but wet rooms cost more due to the waterproofing required.
Can you move the toilet or sink location?
+Yes, we can move sanitaryware positions. The main consideration is the soil pipe for the toilet, which needs a certain fall to drain properly. Moving a toilet to the opposite side of the room might need the floor raised or the route boxed in. Basins and showers are easier to relocate. We survey the options and explain what's involved.
Is underfloor heating worth it?
+Electric underfloor heating in a bathroom costs a few hundred pounds to install during a renovation and pennies a day to run. Warm tiles feel much nicer than cold ones, especially on winter mornings. Most customers who have it say they wish they'd done it sooner. It's much cheaper to install during renovation than retrofit later.
What if you find problems once you start?
+Sometimes old bathrooms hide issues like damaged joists, leaks into the floor, or poor previous plumbing. If we find problems, we stop, show you, explain the options, and agree costs before proceeding. We never just carry on and surprise you with extra charges. Better to fix issues properly while the room is stripped out.
Should I get a bath or just a shower?
+Depends on your household. Families with young children usually want at least one bath. If you never use your bath, a shower-only bathroom gives you more space for a larger shower. Estate agents say at least one bath in a house helps resale value, but most buyers care more about a nice bathroom than specifically having a tub.
Do you supply the bathroom suite or do I?
+We normally supply everything as part of a complete package. This means one point of responsibility if anything is wrong. If you prefer to buy your own suite, we can fit it, but we can't be responsible for quality issues or missing parts. Buying separately usually doesn't save money once you factor in returns and delays.
How much does a bathroom renovation cost?
+Costs depend on bathroom size, quality of sanitaryware and tiles, and complexity of work required. We quote based on your specific requirements rather than generic prices. Contact us for a free consultation and we'll give you a fixed quote for your bathroom.
